Regenerating Rose & Shea Facial Balm

DIY Skin Care - Regenerating Rose & Shea Facial Balm This regenerating rose and shea balm harnesses the skin calming properties of rose petals and the reparative action of rosehip and olive oils. Shea butter is high in vitamins A and E and excellent for treating tired or damaged skin. Meanwhile, Australian pink clay is rich in antioxidants, provides wonderful hydration, and works to minimise fine lines and slow the aging process. This recipe makes enough to fill approximately 2 x 120ml glass mason jars. Ingredients: Method:
  1. Place the dried rose petals into the olive oil and let it infuse for a few hours or overnight. Once the dried rose petals have been infused, strain the oil through a garni bag, some muslin or a sieve into a cup and set aside. You may need to squeeze the rose petals to get more of the oil out.
  2. Combine the rose infused olive oil, shea butter and beeswax (or candelilla wax) into a 240ml or 44oml mason jar (you could also use a glass jug).
  3. Place the jar (or jug) into a saucepan filled with approximately 5cm of water on medium-low heat until the wax has melted.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Stir in the castor or rosehip oil, the pink clay, and your essential oils, and mix until well combined.
  6. Carefully pour the mixture into 2 x 120ml glass mason jars. Place the lid on and let it cool. Store out of direct sunlight and use within 6-9 months.
How To Use: At bedtime, dab some balm around your eyes, on your laugh wrinkles, forehead, or anywhere else you'd like to reduce the appearance of lines, aging or scars. Shop DIY skin care ingredients online or at our stores: Recipe adapted from 101 Easy Homemade Products by Jan Berry.
