It's Tracey, founder of Biome, and I want to share with you my personal experience of discovering that self-care and sustainable living are deeply intertwined.
I've learned that caring for myself is inherently linked to caring for the environment, and that by doing so, I positively impact my well-being and happiness. It's a story that I have often heard from others too, of more joyful and fulfilled selves from taking little eco friendly steps every day.
My journey started when I founded Biome 20 years ago, at a time that I was despairing about the damage humans were inflicting on the health of people and planet. Founding Biome was a way that I could feel empowered and more joyful by being part of the solution.
The Dance of Self Care and Sustainable Living
Self-care is not just about pampering yourself with spa treatments or indulging in your favourite treats. It is about honouring your needs, listening to your intuition, and nurturing your mind, body, and spirit. It is about being kind to yourself and accepting yourself as you are.
Sustainable living is not just about reducing your carbon footprint or avoiding plastic. It is about living in harmony with nature, respecting the resources and the life that it provides, and being mindful of the consequences of our actions. It is about being kind to the planet and accepting it as it is.
Reducing our Footprint, Expanding our Happiness
One of the most beautiful aspects of sustainable living is the awareness it brings to our footprint. From the way we consume to the waste we produce, each decision has an impact. Embracing a low-impact lifestyle is a declaration of love for the planet and, in turn, for ourselves. It's a powerful reminder that our happiness is intricately tied to the health of the world around us.
By learning new skills, DIY-ing, and 'making-do', I find that I not only save money, but also stimulate my creativity and confidence.
Connecting with Nature, Connecting with Self
Nature has a remarkable ability to heal and rejuvenate. Whether it's a simple walk in the park or creating a green oasis at home, incorporating nature into our lives is a form of self-love. Sustainable living encourages us to honour the Earth, fostering a deeper connection with the natural world. It's in this connection that we find not only happiness, but a sense of belonging to something greater than ourselves.
When I spend time in nature or tend the garden, I find a boost in my mood and contentment.
Choosing Joyful and Minimalist Products
At Biome, our shelves are filled with products that are not only mindful of precious resources, but also contribute to your well-being. By choosing natural, toxin free products it nourishes our health.
Simplifying my lifestyle and minimising my consumption, helps to free me from stress, as well as reduce waste and pollution.

The dance of self-care and sustainability doesn't end with us. It has a ripple effect, influencing those around us and creating a positive impact on the planet. By choosing eco-friendly options, we inspire others to do the same. It's a collective dance towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
