Plastic Free Microwave Container (when used without the lid)
When plastic containers or wraps go in the microwave, heat can cause them to leach chemicals into your food you're about to eat. This collection gives you glass and stainless steel containers with bases that are plastic-free and microwave-safe on their own, so you can reheat with confidence.
The lid stays out of the microwave The important rule with every container here: take the lid off before microwaving. The Glasslock glass and Klean Kanteen Rise stainless steel are microwave-safe, but the lids are not designed for microwave use and should never go in.
Instead:
Cover loosely with a microwave-safe plate, or
Use a paper towel to prevent mess
I thought metal could not go in the microwave?
Most guidance says "no metal in the microwave." The Klean Kanteen Rise range gets around this with a smooth, rounded design with no sharp edges or points, which is what actually causes arcing and sparking in a microwave (think spoon, not fork).
That clever shape means you can heat food directly in the steel base, lid off, with confidence.
The leak-proof plastic and silicone lids make these containers ideal for storing and transporting the food.
