Kylie and Michele founded AWWA to provide people of all shapes, sizes and identifiers with sustainable and innovative, quality products to manage their periods. From using natural, organic and recyclable fabrics to their toxic-free processes and ethical makers, AWWA aims to demonstrate sustainability in action.
In just 12 months (2020-2021), Kylie and Michele have saved 6.7 million single-use period products from landfill.
"For many of us, how we talk about our own period and what we learned when that day came, is so very different to how it was spoken about by our Tipuna (ancestors). As mothers to daughters, we wanted to advocate for, break down the barriers, and unpack the stigma around periods that we have all faced. To create a more empowering, more sustainable, and a more beautiful future." - Kylie and Michele.
Biome acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation (Burwood), Bundjalung, Yugambeh and Koombumerrii people (Southport), and Yuggera and Turrbul people (Meanjin / Brisbane) as the traditional owners and custodians of the land that we work on. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
