Here's the oil that makes the mould removal recipe work. Biome's Clove Bud Essential Oil is 100% pure, steam-distilled from the clove tree native to South East Asia, and rich in eugenol — the compound that actually kills mould spores rather than just bleaching them away.

How to use it: Clean off visible mould first. Mix ¼ teaspoon with 1 litre of water in a spray bottle, mist onto the affected surface, leave for 20 minutes, then wipe. Spray again and leave for 24–48 hours without wiping.

One 50ml bottle makes multiple litres of solution — for most households, that's enough for a year or more of regular use, making it one of the most cost-effective natural mould treatments you can buy.

Beyond mould, the same eugenol content makes it useful as:

  • disinfecting room spray
  • natural insect repellent
  • warming massage oil when combined with a carrier oil such as jojoba
  • all-purpose DIY household cleaner when added to vinegar and hot water

Features

No fillers, no synthetic additives, just clove.

  • Generous 50ml bottle, offering excellent value for regular use
  • Traditionally used to help ease symptoms of respiratory infections
  • Historically applied topically (always diluted) for minor wounds, cuts, and fungal skin conditions such as athlete's foot
  • Bottled in Australia from imported oil.

Is this the same clove oil used in the ¼ teaspoon per litre mould recipe?

Yes — this is 100% pure clove bud oil, the type recommended for mould removal. Mix ¼ teaspoon with 1 litre of water for the standard DIY mould spray.

How long will one bottle last?

A 50ml bottle typically lasts several months to a year for regular household mould treatment, since each batch only needs ¼ teaspoon per litre of water.

Is this clove bud oil or clove leaf oil?

This is clove bud oil, which has a higher eugenol content than clove leaf or stem oil — eugenol is the compound responsible for its antifungal action, making bud oil the better choice for mould removal.

Is it safe to use around children and pets?

The diluted spray solution (¼ tsp oil per litre of water) is fine for household surfaces, but the undiluted essential oil should be kept out of reach of children and pets and never ingested.

Can I use it during pregnancy?

As with all essential oils, clove oil should be avoided during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

Care & Use

For Mould Removal
Mix ¼ teaspoon with 1 litre of water in a spray bottle — don't be tempted to make it stronger, as this won't improve results and may damage surfaces. Always test on an inconspicuous area first, especially on painted walls or delicate surfaces. Store any leftover solution in a cool, dark place; one batch typically lasts several months with regular use.

Diffusion
To experience the aromatic benefits of Clove Essential Oil, add a few drops to your Aromatherapy Diffuser, Car Diffuser, or Diffuser Necklace. Its warm, spicy scent makes it a favourite for offices and study spaces.

Essential Oil Safety

Essential oils are not to be taken internally. They are highly concentrated, powerful oils and can cause serious harm if ingested without the necessary expertise — for this reason, ingestion of essential oils is NOT recommended for the general public.
Keep essential oils out of reach of children and pets.
Avoid using essential oils during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
To avoid possible skin sensitivity, always dilute and skin test before topical application.

Circular life

Reuse, refill or recycle the bottle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can clove oil be used as an insect or mozzie repellent?

Yes — clove oil's strong scent is commonly used as a natural insect or mosquito deterrent. Add a few drops to a diffuser, or dilute in water for a spray, to help discourage insects from an area.

Can I use clove oil directly on my skin?

No — clove oil should always be diluted before topical use, typically in a carrier oil such as jojoba or sweet almond oil. Undiluted essential oil can cause skin irritation or sensitivity. Always patch test first.

Is clove oil the same as ground cloves or clove extract used in cooking?

No — clove essential oil is a highly concentrated steam-distilled product intended for topical, aromatic, or cleaning use, not for cooking or ingestion. It is not a substitute for ground cloves or culinary clove extract.
