The ultimate woolly socks! Made in Tasmania, Australia on antique sock machines, from Tasmanian merino wool. Wool socks are warm in the cold, cool in the heat, and even maintain warmth when damp. These really are the best socks for the worst of weather days. Naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial, they won't leave you with smelly feet even after you've worn them for a day...or two.

Made for each other

the brand story:

The Mongrel Socks brand was established by Laurie and Helen, a couple of proud Tasmanians in the year 2000. They set up a stall at the local Salamanca markets and soon started selling beautiful pure wool Tasmanian made on antique sock machines. They were a hit. All was ticking along nicely, until the local sock manufacturer, went out of business, which led to Laurie & Helen buying the old sock machines, and set about learning how to knit the socks themselves. The machines were temperamental, and at times a real “Mongrel” to operate, but with much patience and persistence they mastered the art of knitting socks. Today Mongrel Socks is run by another Tasmanian couple, Paul and Mylou, who took over the reins in 2019. The Tasmanian wool is sourced from farmers who are dedicated to the best animal welfare practices. Mongrel socks have secured a long term supply and are busily knitting with certified Tasmanian grown and non-mulesed Pure Merino Wool for use in all their pure wool products. Happy sheep, happy feet!

    Best socks

Bought for my husband as he has a permanent injury to his left foot & cold is not his friend. He loves these socks & his feet were kept warm all day & he said that even walking on hard surfaces was far better than ever. Will definitely buy more.

Mongrel Socks Pure Merino Wool Socks - Mulberry

I have several pairs of these socks, they are wonderful during the winter. I look forward to the cooler months so I can wear them.

My only reservation is that the makers could reinforce the toe area, as I have had to darn the toe area of some of these socks.

    Bring on winter I’m ready

I am now buying these for everyone. Warm and comfortable. I wash in the machine using a wool cycle and they have not shrunk or lost their shape. Great winter socks.

    Warm and durable

Have had several pairs over the years and expect these to last well too. Great as house socks or travel slippers too.

Wonderful, well fitting winter socks. This the fourth pair that I have bought, of different colours.
